چکیده

The inversion is the Non-Linear Conjugate Gradient (NLCG) algorithm of Rodi and Mackie (2001). This seeks to efficiently find a model that minimizes the objective function) P(τ χ S 2 m + = where ∑ = = N 1 i 2 i 2 i 2 σ r χ is the sum of the squared data residuals weighted by their variances and P(m) is a structure penalty function. At each choice of trade-off parameter τ, the resulting model m has the minimum structure (as measured by the structure penalty) for the resulting misfit. Ideally, the goal of the inversion process is to find the model that fits the data just well enough to reflect all the geological information but none of the statistical noise. Clearly the resulting image depends on the choice of structure penalty. In this work, the penalty is a weighted integral of the Laplacian squared of the model. The weighting increases both horizontal and vertical derivatives by a factor equal to the vertical scale of each model element, which increases with depth and with horizontal distance outside the profile.

Low electrical resistivity associated with plunging of the Nazca flat - slab beneath Argentina ( supplementary note on data analysis )

This note presents a brief synopsis of analysis of magnetotelluric data for model dimensionality and strike and its application to the data used in the main paper. Magnetotelluric (MT) data begin as time series of horizontal magnetic (H) and electric (E) fields collected at Earth's surface. After cross-correlation of the field components in orthogonal measurement directions (x,y), the frequency...

Electrical Resistivity Measurement of the Molten Cordierite Glass Using Two-wire method

Electrical resistivity (ER) is a main parameter in the melting processes of glasses. However, its measurement is difficult at high temperatures. In this study the electrical resistivity of different cordierite glass samples in the molten state was measured in the temperature range of 1100˚C to 1550 ˚C using the two-wire method. It was attempted to decrease the electrical resistivity of the glas...

Geostatistical Modeling of Electrical Resistivity Tomography for Imaging Porphyry Cu Mineralization in Takht-e-Gonbad Deposit, Iran

This work presents the application of a geostatistical-based modeling approach for building up electrical properties acquired from a geophysical electrical tomography survey deployed for the purpose of porphyry Cu exploration at the Takht-e-Gonbad deposit, in the central domain of Iran. Electrical data were inverted in 2D along several profiles across the main favorable zones of Cu-bearing mine...
